Combating corruption

Management of risks associated with corruption and conflict of interest at SIA “Rīgas namu pārvaldnieks”

In accordance with the Corporate Governance Code, SIA “Rīgas namu pārvaldnieks” (hereinafter – Company) is committed to take measures to ensure ethical, responsible, sustainable, and transparent corporate governance, duly respecting the interests of the Company and its members, promoting the achievement of the Company’s objectives and the interests of the Company’s clients to receive quality property management services. Managing corruption and conflict of interest is essential for achieving the objectives set out in the Corporate Governance Code. It is important to use preventive tools to mitigate corruption and minimise the likelihood of corruption.

The Company manages corruption and conflict of interest in accordance with the Policy on Prevention of Conflict of interest and Corruption, setting out the objectives – to ensure effective functioning of the Company’s system for preventing conflict of interest and corruption, to ensure preventive measures and actions for combating corruption and the risk of conflict of interest , to set a controlled  environment, as well as to reduce and prevent violations of legal provisions, establishing the requirements for the prevention of conflict of interest for public officials, and corrupt activities.

To ensure the achievement of the objective set in the Policy on Prevention of Conflict of Interest and Corruption, the Company has implemented and ensures the management of corruption and conflict of interest in accordance with the Cabinet Regulation No. 630 “Regulations Regarding the Basic Requirements for an Internal Control System for the Prevention of Corruption and Conflict of Interest in an Institution of a Public Person”, as adopted on 17 October 2017, Riga City Municipality Anti-Corruption Strategy 2018 – 2021, recommendations and best practices of the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau.

To mitigate the risks of corruption and conflict of interest, the Company:

  • Regularly develops the anti-corruption action plan, monitors, and reports to the Company’s Board and Council on the implementation of the measures.
  • Regularly trains employees on risks associated with corruption and conflict of interest, accountability, and risk prevention.
  • Regularly updates the list of positions exposed to corruption risk.
  • Increases the scope of public officials, assessing the potential risks associated with corruption and conflict of interest.
  • Strengthens self-monitoring, including the completion of self-assessment questionnaires on risks associated with conflict of interest and corruption.
  • Controls the procurement process and performs procurement risk analyses.
  • Provides the possibility for employees and customers to submit anonymous whistleblower’s reports and ensures prompt handling and response to them.
  • Develops a comprehensive internal control environment with one of the objectives of reducing the risks of corruption and conflicts of interest.
  • Assesses and improves the practice of managing the risks associated with corruption and conflict of interest.
  • Integrates management of corruption and conflict of interest with the management other risk categories of the Company.
