On 8 February 2022, the owners of the apartments at Zvejnieku iela 9, Riga, made a joint decision on participation of the building at Zvejnieku iela 9, Riga, in the tender “Riga City Municipality Co-financing for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage in 2022” and authorised SIA “Rīgas namu pārvaldnieks” (RNP) to draw up and submit documents on behalf of the owners, in accordance with the tender rules.
The plot located at Zvejnieku iela 9 is located in the protection area of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Historical Centre of Riga” (protection No. 852) and in the territory of the urban monument of national significance “Ķīpsala Historical Buildings” (State protection No. 8327).

The borderline of the area of Ķīpsala historical buildings stretches on the odd-numbered side of Zvejnieku iela where also the building at Zvejnieku iela 9 is located. The wooden building and its structural elements, including the central entrance portal, have been preserved since the building was built in 1910/1912. The entrance door has minor losses: one original panel, handles, broken upper window glass, and a broken internal closing mechanism. The wooden surface has been severely damaged by light, wind, and the weather. The door and the entrance portal surrounding it form part of the original construction – they are 110 years old. The building is of great significance as an unaltered building that forms part of the wooden architecture of Riga. The wooden façade of the building, including the entrance portal, can be preserved by restoration/preservation. A restoration programme has been developed for the preservation of the portal.
The restoration programme envisages a restoration/preservation method using only traditional and natural materials. The works include the crafting of inserts thus replacing the lost parts, crafting of a new doorstep, maintenance of metal parts, impregnation of wooden surfaces, painting, sealing of large cracks, and replacement of broken glass. After conducting the door paint analysis, the respective decision on the shade is to be made.
During the renovation and restoration of the entrance portal of the residential building at Zvejnieku iela 9, the contractor SIA “DOTS” intends to fully preserve the original substances of the entrance portal of the building designed by the architect Eižens Laube.

Total project cost comprising the construction work amounts to EUR 8 999.53, of which the co-financing of the Riga City Municipality amounts to EUR 3 928.24.
