Severe winds expected in Riga: essential safety tips for protecting your home and yard

A warning for strong wind gusts has been issued in Latvia. This evening, the wind will intensify and is expected to grow stronger through Saturday.

We urge everyone to exercise caution to protect yourselves and your property:

• Do not leave items on balconies or in yards that the wind might carry away.
• Keep windows closed.
• Park cars as far away as possible from trees that could fall.
• Charge mobile devices in advance, as power outages may occur due to high winds.

If the wind causes damage that endangers health, life, communications, or public transport, call the national emergency number 112.

For significant damage to a house or yard, call the 24-hour RNP emergency line at 8000 8989.
