Based on the results of the opened procurement of the Riga Local Government “Provision of household waste management services in the administrative territory of the city of Riga”, the fee for removing 1 m3 of household waste gets changed since 20 May 2020 as follows:
Household waste containers may differ, but their total volume per house will remain the same. If containers are marked, you may only use those waste containers that are intended for your house.
Household waste will not be collected, but a fee of 50% of the service price will be applied for the relevant container’s volume at the particular time of removal if:
– no access is provided to waste containers, for example, a vehicle is parked in such a way that waste managers cannot approach the container;
– container contains smouldering, burning, flammable and explosive objects, hazardous waste, liquids, construction debris.
If the waste container is damaged due to the apartment owners’ action or omission to act, and it is not related to natural wear or a defect, the apartment owners community shall assume financial responsibility and undertakes to pay the full cost of replacing the container.
Waste managers will also provide separate collection of biodegradable waste for a separate fee, which is lower than household waste collection:
As to oversize bulky waste, each apartment owner must be responsible and dispose of it himself/herself, otherwise these disposal costs will be applied to the entire residential house.
Should you notice someone placing waste in an inappropriate place, please take a photo or video of the incident and inform the Riga Municipal Police about it!
