Smart water meters

Choose a smart water meter and forget about submitting readings!

How smart water meters work

Smart water meters with ultrasound technology measure water flow accurately and reliably and automatically read the meter values – residents no longer need to submit the readings themselves.

To use smart meters, they must be installed in all apartments in the building.

What to do to install smart water meters in the building

  1. Fill out the application form here.
  2. After receiving the application, Rīgas namu pārvaldnieks will prepare a price offer, inform the apartment owners, and organize the voting. The cost of the meters depends on the number of meters required and the complexity of installation.
  3. Apartment owners must decide in a vote whether the building wants to install smart meters

Benefits of using smart water meters:

Four pictograms representing benefits: convenience (data reading and cloud upload), savings (piggy bank), longer service life (gear with an hourglass), and individual support (person icon with a support symbol).

  • Convenience: Residents no longer need to read and submit water meter readings every month – it happens automatically.
  • Savings: High precision helps detect leaking plumbing and prevent water losses. The meter cannot be tampered with, so you will not have to pay for dishonest neighbors.
  • Longer lifespan: Ultrasonic meters do not have small, easily breakable parts. Additionally, their battery lasts up to 16 years.
  • Individual support: We will help you use the meter data to spot issues early and reduce water consumption.

Experience story: how smart water meters work in practice

A measurable result

Smart meters not only make submitting readings easier but also help reduce monthly expenses.

Even if there are no leaks or accidents in the water system, the water consumption difference – the difference between the total water supplied to the building and the water recorded by the apartment meters – can create additional costs on each apartment’s monthly bill.

Old mechanical meters cannot detect small leaks, can be manipulated, and users can easily make mistakes when reporting readings.

Our experience shows that after installing smart meters, the water consumption difference can decrease significantly – in some cases from 36% to as little as 2%.
