How smart water meters work

Smart water meters use ultrasound technology to measure water flow accurately and reliably. They automatically read the data, so residents no longer need to submit their readings themselves.

To use smart meters, they must be installed in all apartments of the building.

What to do to install smart water meters in the building

Apply by emailing rnparvaldnieks@rnparvaldnieks.lv. Any apartment owner can apply.
Upon receiving the application, Rīgas namu pārvaldnieks will prepare a price offer, inform the apartment owners, and organize a vote. The cost of the meters depends on the number of meters needed and the complexity of the installation.
Apartment owners will need to decide in the vote whether the building wants to install smart meters.

Benefits of using smart water meters:

• Convenience: Residents do not need to read and submit their water consumption data – the data will be read remotely.
• Accuracy: Ultrasonic technology measures water more accurately than mechanical meters.
• Longer lifespan: Ultrasonic meters do not have small, easily breakable parts. Additionally, their battery lasts up to 16 years.
• Less frequent verification: Verification will only be required once every 16 years.*
