From November 19, there will be changes in waste management fees in the city center of Riga, as well as in the Latgale and Kurzeme suburbs of Riga

2023-10-23

From November 19, 2023, SIA “Clean R” will increase its waste management tariff. The changes in waste management will affect the Eastern Directorate of Riga City Center, the administrative territory of Riga Latgale suburbs, and the Riga Kurzeme district of the Pārdaugava Directorate.

The changes in service prices will be minor – for household waste management, they will increase by 43 cents per cubic meter. Meanwhile, the fee for the disposal of biodegradable waste, which is already 20% cheaper than household waste management, will decrease within the 1% range. The adjustments in service fees are related to inflation and the direct increase in service delivery costs.

Non-segregated household waste:
Zone 1 – Administrative territory of Riga City Center and Latgale suburbs Zone 2 – Administrative territory of Riga Kurzeme district
Fee for waste management per 1 m3 until 18.11.2023. EUR 27,10* EUR 27,41*
Fee for waste management per 1 m3 from 19.11.2023. EUR 27,62* EUR 27,93*

* All prices are indicated with value-added tax (VAT).

Biodegradable waste (BIO)
Zone 1 – Administrative territory of Riga City Center and Latgale suburbs Zone 2 – Administrative territory of Riga Kurzeme district
Fee for waste management per 1 m3 until 18.11.2023. EUR 21,68* EUR 21,93*
Fee for waste management per 1 m3 from 19.11.2023. EUR 21,51* EUR 21,91*

* All prices are indicated with value-added tax (VAT).

The most effective way to reduce costs, even with increasing tariffs, is thoughtful shopping and waste sorting. It’s worth noting that the management of segregated glass, paper, plastic, and metal packaging is provided free of charge, while the costs of biodegradable waste disposal are lower than household waste management.
